Travel


  • What is your cancellation policy?

    If you cancel with 35 days or more notice, you will get a full refund (minus a 10% admin fee). We can also try to reschedule your tour for another time and hold your booking, the choice is yours.

    *NOT applicable to Multi-Day Tours, Early bird tickets or vouchers*

  • Do I need Electronic Travel Authorisation?

    Yes, although it depends on the country you are travelling from. Please check full guidance here - https://www.visitscotland.com/travel-planning/electronic-travel-authorisation

  • What is a private tour?

    Private tours are exactly what you think - private. A tour just for you and your party. If you are travelling alone then it will be just you or if you have a travel companion/companions then it will only be your group that booked. 

  • Do you offer hotel pick up?

    Yes! all our tours are private and will be only the group you book for. An extra of your tour being private means we come to you to begin your tour of Scotland and return you to your hotel at the end of the day.

  • Do you pick up from AirBnB's

    Yes! our guide can meet you outside the address of your apartment.

  • Do we stop for lunch?

    Yes, we stop in small towns and villages, where our guides can recommend a place to eat. 

  • Is the tour just us?

    Yes, private tours are exactly that. A tour just for you and your party. If you are travelling alone then it will be just you.

  • Do we need to book admissions?

    This depends on your tour, a lot of locations have walk up slots. One that we always recommend booking in advance is Edinburgh Castle. Please contact us to confirm.

  • Can we include Edinburgh Castle?

    Yes! Our guides can all guide within Edinburgh Castle. We always advise purchasing your Castle tickets in advance to make sure you get in when you want to. We need advanced notification of this to ensure there is space for our guide to join your group on the day.

  • Multi-Day Tour Cancellation Policy?

    We require a 25% non-refundable deposit on all Multi Day Bookings. If you would like to pay the deposit at time of booking and the balance 90 days before the tour date please contact us. 


    Cancel with more than 90 days notice you will receive a 75% deposit. 

    Cancel with more than 60 days notice you will receive a 50% deposit.  

    Cancel with less than 60 days notice no-refund will be issued.


    We strongly recommend that clients take out appropriate travel insurance to cover the cost of the tour etc. should you not be able to travel.


    Please note, we do not refund in the event of locations or attractions being closed, ferries being unable to sail, or for any other reason that may cause last minute alterations to the Itinerary.


Itineraries


  • Do itineraries change?

    Your tour will always follow the itinerary as closely as possible. However in some cases visitor attractions may be closed or traffic restrictions can impact the tour route. 

  • What's included?

    Included in your tour is a private vehicle, private driver/guide, bottled water, hotel pick up and drop off.

  • What is excluded?

    We exclude accommodation, admissions and meals from our itineraries so you can travel however you want.

  • Should I take out travel insurance?

    Yes, we all ways recommend that you take out travel insurance in case of any unforseen circumstances.

  • I have mobility issues can I still come?

    If you have mobility issues let us know. If we know in advance we can tailor the tour to your needs. The more you tell us the better the experience for you. We want you to have the best time you can when you are here. The joy of private tours is they are at your pace.

  • What happens in extreme weather?

    Tours run all year around in all weathers. We rarely have to cancel a tour due to the weather. Should we have an extreme weather event we strongly recommend you take out travel insurance to cover the cost of the tour should it be cancelled at short notice. 


Guides


  • Can we request a guide?

    We can't gurantee a specific guide for each tour, however we always aim to provide the best experience no matter what guide you have.

  • Does the guide have lunch with us?

    As you wish, the guide can have lunch with you. Feel free to ask our guides to lunch, they will be more than happy to spend the extra time with you.

  • Do you have insurance?

    Yes! we have comprehensive Public Liability insurance and commercial vehicle insurance on every tour by default.

  • What languages are available?

    The tour will be delivered in English as we only have english speaking guides.

  • Should I tip in Scotland?

    If you have enjoyed the tour please feel free to tip your guide (or Driver/Guide).  When you visit restaurants tips are also appreciated by your service providers.  If you do not enjoy the tour please do not tip the guide, give us your feedback, this will enable us to make changes and improvements.
