Where do the tours start?

Our Royal Mile and Outlander small group walking tours start outside Gladstone's Land, 477B Lawnmarket.

Our Share-a-Tour small group day tours start opposite the Apex Waterloo Hotel, Waterloo Place Edinburgh.

All other Private Tours start at your Hotel or other agreed location.

I have mobility issues, can I take your tour?

We try to accommodate everyone on our tours.  Please contact us to discuss your individual requirements.  Several sites we visit are on rough ground, uneven surfaces and can be steep.  The Old Town has lots of uneven and narrow spaces to take into consideration.

Are children welcome on your tours?

Children are welcome on all of our tours however, there are car safety rules to be adhered to.  We can accommodate small pushchairs in our cars.  If your child suffers from travel sickness then a long car tour is not advisable.  Children are welcome on all walking tours.

Will I have time for lunch on a full day tour?

Yes, we work in a lunch stop for people on our full day tours.  The guide will need a break and is required to stop for lunch.  We usually try to pick a place that serves local produce and has a good range of foods available to suit all diets.

Should I Tip the guide?

The guide will happily accept a tip.  It is done at your discretion and is not compulsory.  

Another way to show the guide you have enjoyed the tour is to give them feedback on TripAdvisor or other Rating platform.  It is always nice  to hear you are doing a good job.

What should I do if I've had a problem?

The quickest and easiest way to solve a problem it tell us about it.  If we know, we can usually fix it.  If you are not happy with something let us know, don't let is fester.  We are here to help you have a good time.  We are not here to make your life hard.

How do I book a tour?

You can use our on-line booking system, there is no booking fee and both debit and credit cards are accepted.

If you would like a bespoke/private tour we can issue a PayPal Invoice for secure on-line payment.  You do not need a PayPal account and the service is free to use.

For private group tours we can also accept bank transfer.

Do the tours run in the rain?

Yes, our tours go in all weathers.  Scotland can be a wet and windy place, so please dress appropriately.  On a very rare occasion if the guides deems it to be dangerous because of very high winds or heavy snow then a tour may be cancelled or cut short, but this rarely happens.

If there is not enough people will the tour be cancelled?

Walking tours have a minimum number is 4 participants.  If this is not reached the tour may be cancelled and you will be refunded or offered an alternative.

Shared tours the minimum number is 3. If this number is not reached the tour will be cancelled and you will be refunded (for both you will be given 24 hours notice via email).

What is your Cancellation Policy

Day Tours and Walking Tours: If you cancel with more than 28 days notice you will be given a full refund less a £5 admin. fee.

If you cancel with 28 days or less no refund will be issued. 

Multi Day Tours: All payments are final.

Deposits: Are non refundable.

We strongly recommend you take out the appropriate travel insurance.

How will I recognise the Guide?

The guide will have a Name Badge or Baseball Cap with Edinburgh Tour Guides on it.  Or if you have booked a private tour the guide will probably have a kilt on or a Name Badge.

Spotting our Cars... look for the Outlander Sign in the Window or the Registration number T500 URS

I am on a Cruise can I take a standard Tour?

Shore Excursions are possible, however we have to be very careful with timing.  As there are several places to arrive in Edinburgh (South Queensferry, Newhaven, Ocean Terminal and Rossyth). This can effect how long you have ashore especially if you have to Tender in.
